Getting Published

I've had four acceptances for publications in the past few weeks. Pretty good, I guess. I've been in the process of changing jobs (scary in this economy) and have been somewhat remiss in my writing habits. I've recently re-joined my writing group now that I can get there consistantly and look forward to reading and writing there. Writing doesn't really feel like work to me (although at work I write and that does)however, writing for pleasure is a different issue than for work.
2009 saw about 3 dozen publications and because of life changes 2010 is off to a much slower start. But I've found a few new markets that seem amenable to my writings and I hope I can develope good relationships with those 'zines.

I write. I like writing, but getting published is even better. I recently went to a reading and was able to read a recent publication I had had in Groundwaters. It was a very gratifying experience and I look forward to their next readings gathering in May and July.

I have about a dozen shorts in the works at present and a few longer pieces as well. I also have about eight or nine mss out despite my lack of writing of late and hope at least some of them are accepted for publication.

I hope you other writers out there take some solace in these words and keep on writing--send out those mss, too!
